Afro-american broadcasting co. brochure

This was the flyer for Malcolm X’s final speech given in Detroit on February 14th, 1965, at the Ford Auditorium, hosted by the Afro-American Broadcasting Co. He was invited as the keynote speaker and to receive an award as part of the Scholarship Awards ceremony. See the program for the night, which was opened by the Dorothy Ashby Trio.

Malcolm x, Wayne State University, Oct 22, 1963

Malcolm X addresses a packed house during a lecture sponsored by Wayne State's Independent Socialist Club. The lecture was held in Room 101 of State Hall and had over 400 students in attendance. The State Hall auditorium now has a plaque naming it the Malcolm X Auditorium.

This is a photo of the historic marker for the site of Temple No. 1, the Nation of Islam’s first temple in Detroit, which is now the Historic Masjid Wali Muhammad. When Imam W.D. Mohammad converted to Islam from the Nation of Islam, Temple #1 was renamed to Masjid Wali Muhammad, named after Elijah Muhammad’s brother who was an early minister in the Nation.
